Fairbanks rolls over Kenai River, 5-1

The Kenai River Brown Bears had trouble finding ways to stop the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, which beat Brown Bears, 5-1.

Kenai River was stymied by Fairbanks netminder Kevin Aldridge, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Aldridge certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.25 entering the contest.

The Ice Dogs were led by Ben Campbell, who had one goal. Campbell scored 7:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fairbanks. Tayler Munson provided the assist.

Fairbanks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Brown Bears to score on any of their four power plays.

Fairbanks additionally got points from Colton Wolter, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Viktor Liljegren, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Munson, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Hans Gorowsky also scored for Fairbanks. More assists for Fairbanks came via Johnny Mueller and Lonnie Clary, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Dogs were unable to stop Kenai River from sending pucks towards the net, and the Brown Bears eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Kenai River was led by Matt Rudin, who scored the team's only goal. Rudin scored 17:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fairbanks. Conor Deal assisted on the tally.

Fairbanks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Brown Bears' Kris Oldham stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Kenai River incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
