Lumm's goals lift Odessa to 3-1 victory over Corpus Christi

The Odessa Jackalopes relied on the scoring touch of Leo Lumm, who netted two goals, to beat the Corpus Christi IceRays, 3-1.

Lumm found the back of the net 13:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Odessa and again while 14:44 into the third to make the score 3-1 Odessa.

Odessa was led by goalie Yoshihiro Kuroiwa, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Kuroiwa will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.55.

Odessa also got a goal from Alex Alger as well. More assists for Odessa came via David Chavis II and Joey Palumbo, who each chipped in one and Razmuz Waxin-Engback and Lukas Laub, who contributed two a piece.

Corpus Christi's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Odessa power plays.

The IceRays were led by Nick Monfils, who scored the team's only goal. Monfils scored on the power play 10:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi had gotten the advantage when the Jackalopes' Jefferson Martin was sent off for holding. Tony Roisum assisted on the tally.

Odessa ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Ben Myers rejected 18 shots on goal for the IceRays. Corpus Christi totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
