Wenatchee holds on for 3-2 win against Fairbanks

The Wenatchee Wild survived a determined comeback attempt by the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on the way to a 3-2 win.

Wenatchee made the score 3-1 on a goal by Nicholas Rivera at 15:47 in the second period, and Fairbanks got as close as 3-2 when Victor Munter scored 12:44 into the third period.

The Wild were led by Rivera, who racked up one goal.

Wenatchee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fairbanks power plays. The Wild's offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.5 shots per game they average.

Wenatchee additionally got points from Troy Loggins, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Trey Bradley, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Wenatchee came via Brandon Schrader, Gadel Gumerov, Sam Becker, and David Powlowski, who contributed one a piece.

The defensemen of the Ice Dogs were also effective in Wenatchee's zone, and came away with two goals. Fairbanks put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 32.9 it averages per game.

Doug Rose also scored for Fairbanks. Other players who recorded assists for Fairbanks were Brett Gervais and Lonnie Clary, who each chipped in one.

Gustaf Johansson made 36 saves for the Wild on 38 shots. Wenatchee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kevin Aldridge rejected 29 shots on goal for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
