Rio Grande Valley beats Lone Star 4-2 as Bruneteau gets hat trick

Tyler Bruneteau lifted the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the Lone Star Brahmas.

Bruneteau's first goal came 2:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:46 into the third and at 19:36 into the third.

Rio Grande Valley capitalized on Lone Star's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. The Killer Bees' offense was clicking better than usual and put 38 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.9 shots per game they average.

Rio Grande Valley also got a goal from Anthony Croston as well. More assists for Rio Grande Valley came via Ben Greiner, who had two and Marcus Ericsson, Aleksi Luhtalampi, Austin Fletcher, and Adam Morrison, who each chipped in one.

Rio Grande Valley's defense shut down the Brahmas' forwards for much of the game, and Lone Star got off only 14 shots during the contest.

The Brahmas were helped by Anthony Mousseau, who had one goal. Mousseau scored on the power play 14:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Lone Star had taken the advantage when the Killer Bees' Fletcher got sent off for boarding. Matt Lison provided the assist. Ryan Watson also scored for Lone Star. In addition, Lone Star received assists from Liam Stirtzinger, who had one.

Olli Kalkaja made 12 saves for Rio Grande Valley on 14 shots. The Killer Bees incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jacob Nehama recorded 34 saves for the Brahmas. Lone Star incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
