Michigan beats Port Huron 4-3 after comeback scare

The Michigan Warriors survived a determined comeback attempt by the Port Huron Fighting Falcons on the way to a 4-3 win.

Michigan made the score 4-1 on a goal by Alec Pellegrino at 18:18 in the second period, and Port Huron got as close as 4-3 when Logan Lambdin scored 12:33 into the third period.

The Warriors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Michigan was helped by Colin Larkin, who racked up one goal. Larkin scored 11:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zack Szajner assisted on the tally. TJ Stuntz also scored for Michigan. More assists for Michigan came via Joshua Shellman, who had two and Jake Faiella, Cam Jorgensen, Jake Hopfner, and Cody Lichtenvoort, who each chipped in one.

Port Huron also got a goal from Jonathan Kopacka as well. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Bryan Yim, who had two and Alex Archibald and Mitch Maloney, who contributed one a piece.

Dillion Kelley rejected 18 shots on goal for the Warriors. Michigan totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Max Milosek took the loss and made 15 saves before being replaced by Alex Blankenburg who made seven saves. The Fighting Falcons ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
