Dietsch leads Austin over Brookings, 11-1

Luke Dietsch had two goals and two assists to lead the Austin Bruins to an 11-1 victory over the Brookings Blizzard.

Dietsch's tallies came at 16:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 18:21 into the first to make the score 3-1 Austin.

Austin found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bruins average 4.9 goals per game. By firing 35 shots on goal, Austin exceeded the 30.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Austin additionally got points from Brennan Sanford, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jay Dickman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Easton Viitala, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin also had goals scored by Sam Kauppila, who had one, Austin Nelson, who had two, and Guillaume Leclerc, who had three. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Lucas Kohls, who had one, Josh Bretner, who had four, and Niko Hildenbrand and Kody Reuter, who each chipped in two.

Brookings was led by Conor Andrle, who scored the team's only goal. Andrle scored on the power play 6:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brookings. The Blizzard earned a power play opportunity when Simon Petersson was put in the box for holding. Eric Brenk assisted on the tally.

Nicholas Lehr rejected 23 shots on goal for the Bruins. Austin totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Miguel Genest made 11 saves before being replaced by Austin Priebe, who took the loss and made 13 saves. Brookings totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
