Minot squeaks by Austin, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Minot Minotauros escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Austin Bruins.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Scott Dornbrock at 16:15 of the second period.

Minot was sparked by Dornbrock, who had one goal and one assist.

With 24 shots on target during the contest, the Minotauros exceeded the 21.5 shots they average per game this year. Minot relied heavily on its defensemen to assist its forwards, and the blueliners responded by scoring two goals on 13 shots.

Jon Lizotte also scored for Minot. More assists for Minot came via Jake Johnson, who had one and Tim Donohue, who had two.

Austin failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 20 pucks on goal after averaging 29.3 shots per game this season.

The Bruins were helped by Sam Kauppila, who registered one goal. Kauppila scored 6:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Easton Viitala assisted on the tally. Austin also got a goal from Luke Dietsch as well. In addition, Austin received assists from Drew Anderson, who had one.

Merrick Madsen recorded 18 saves for the Minotauros. Minot incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Justin Quale made nine saves before being replaced by Nicholas Lehr, who took the loss and made 11 saves. Austin incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
