Coulee Region blows out Janesville, 4-1

The Coulee Region Chill had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Janesville Jets.

Coulee Region's Blake Cates was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Cates managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.88 prior to the game.

The Chill were led by Adam Lovick, who had one goal. Lovick scored 18:22 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Coulee Region.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:50 into the third period. Five fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

The 28 shots that Coulee Region put on net surpassed the Chill's average of 24.4 shots per game this season.

Coulee Region also got a goal from Jake Zeleznikar as well. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from John Regnart, Richard Zehnal, and Ondrej Zehnal, who each chipped in one.

The Janesville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and three majors for 61 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Jets had been spending in the box. Janesville put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.0 it averages per game.

The Jets were led by Michael Louria, who scored the team's only goal. Louria scored 1:25 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Coulee Region. Alex Tremblay assisted on the tally.

Coulee Region totaled 49 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Team's Gordon Wells and Simon Koscielski were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brock Kautz recorded 24 saves for Janesville. The Jets registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For Janesville, Mike Sullivan and Grant Frederic were ejected from the contest.
