Austin wins tough contest against Michigan, 6-4

The game between the Austin Bruins and the Michigan Warriors was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Austin emerged with a 6-4 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brennan Sanford secured the win for the Bruins with a goal in the third period.

Niko Hildenbrand was all over the ice for Austin, as he registered two goals in the win. Hildenbrand found the back of the net 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Austin and again while 2:20 into the first to make the score 2-0 Austin.

The Bruins average 39.0 shots on goal per game, but only sent 28 pucks on net against Michigan.

Austin additionally got points from Drew Anderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Austin also got a goal from Dominik Florian as well. More assists for Austin came via Josh Bretner, who had three and Luke Dietsch, Jay Dickman, Trevor Boyd, and Jake Arroyo, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Michigan's offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.5 shots per game it averages. The Warriors' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Michigan is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season.

The Warriors were led by Colin Horton, who tallied one goal and one assist. Horton scored on the power play 4:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Austin. Michigan had taken the advantage when Austin's Eli May got sent off for holding. Joshua Shellman assisted on the tally. Michigan also got points from Zack Szajner, who also had one goal and one assist. Connor Lyons also scored for Michigan.

Justin Quale recorded 22 saves for the Bruins. Austin incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Trevor Gorsuch rejected 22 shots on goal for the Warriors. Michigan incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
