Kenai River vanquishes Janesville in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kenai River Brown Bears defeated the Janesville Jets in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Janesville's shootout goal was scored by Jordan Himley. In addition to the clincher, Kenai River got a shootout goal from Albin Karlsson.

The Brown Bears came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kenai River trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by the Jets' Michael Louria at 18:42 in the first period. The Brown Bears knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jack Gessert at 10:00 in the second period.

Penalties took their toll on Kenai River, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. The Brown Bears put 45 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.3 they average per game.

Kenai River additionally got points from Matt Rudin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alec Butcher also scored for Kenai River. More assists for Kenai River came via Tommy Dierl, who had two and Jake Bushey and Sebastian Fuchs, who contributed one a piece.

Janesville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 27 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.0 shots per game it averages.

Janesville also got a goal from Adam Winborg as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Robin Hoglund, who had two and Alex Tremblay, Evan Feno, and Cole Pierce, who each chipped in one.

Kenai River took out Kris Oldham after he had made five saves and installed Zach Quinn in goal, where he finished with 19 saves and the win. The Brown Bears incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jets' Logan Halladay stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Janesville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
