Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the MN Wilderness Wilderness in a shootout 2-1 (3-2 SO). The two teams needed 12 turns to complete the shootout. MN Wilderness got shootout goals from Eric Cruickshank and Dan Litchke. Wenatchee also got shootout goals from Troy Loggins and Parker Tuomie.The Wild's Chase Perry was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Perry will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.92 entering the contest. By firing 28 shots on goal, Wenatchee exceeded the 25.0 shots it averages per game this year. The Wild's offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 12 shots on net during the game. Wenatchee was led by Gadel Gumerov, who racked up one goal. Gumerov scored 8:14 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee. Tuomie assisted on the tally. The Wilderness were led by Billy Exell, who scored the team's only goal. Exell scored 14:31 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brett Heikkila picked up the assist. The Wild totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Frank Oplinger recorded 26 saves for MN Wilderness.
