Aberdeen uses early goal to top Rio Grande Valley, 4-2

Bjorn Sigurdarson gave the Aberdeen Wings the lead in the first period, and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

Sigurdarson provided Aberdeen with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:25 into the the first period. The Wings had gotten the advantage when Rio Grande Valley's Connor Pelkey was sent off for interference. Dillon Eichstadt picked up the assist.

Aberdeen was sparked by Lennart Palausch, who registered one goal. Palausch scored 11:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aberdeen. Colin O Neill provided the assist.

The Wings average 24.0 shots on goal per game, but only sent 16 pucks on net against the Killer Bees.

Aberdeen additionally got points from Jake Horton, who also had one goal and one assist and Sigurdarson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Erik Gollenbeck also scored for Aberdeen. More assists for Aberdeen came via Jordan Heller, who had one.

The 36 shots that Rio Grande Valley put on net surpassed the Killer Bees' average of 26.0 shots per game this season.

Rio Grande Valley was helped by JB Baker, who grabbed one goal. Baker scored 11:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aberdeen. Dylan Abood assisted on the tally. Rio Grande Valley also got a goal from Ben Greiner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rio Grande Valley were Marcus Ericsson, who had one.

Henry Dill rejected 34 shots on goal for Aberdeen. The Wings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Mulka recorded 12 saves for the Killer Bees. Rio Grande Valley totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
