Pikes Peak Miners 18U wins tough contest against West Michigan Hounds 18U, 4-3

Pikes Peak Miners 18U gutted out a close 4-3 win against West Michigan Hounds 18U.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and David Dziezawiec's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Dziezawiec had one goal and two assists to lead Pikes Peak Miners 18U. Dziezawiec scored on the power play 6:06 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Pikes Peak Miners 18U. Pikes Peak Miners 18U had taken the advantage when West Michigan Hounds 18U's Michael Wood got sent off for charging. Connor Hutchins assisted on the tally.

Pikes Peak Miners 18U's offense rang up 36 shots on West Michigan Hounds 18U's net. The defensemen of Pikes Peak Miners 18U were also effective in West Michigan Hounds 18U's zone, and came away with two goals.

William Matheson also scored for Pikes Peak Miners 18U. More assists for Pikes Peak Miners 18U came via Luke Slouka, who had two and Jeremy Solat and Evan Butcher, who contributed one a piece.
