Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U vanquishes Atlanta Fire 18U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U defeated Atlanta Fire 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Atlanta Fire 18U got shootout goals from Caleb Callaway and Kyle Truax. In addition to the clincher, Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U got shootout goals from Keenan Haase and Paul Boutoussov.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U stifled Atlanta Fire 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U was helped by Alex Kalau, who racked up one goal. Kalau scored on the power play 14:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U had gotten the advantage when Atlanta Fire 18U's Zach Schingoethe was sent off for slashing. Connor Reed assisted on the tally. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U also got a goal from Zachary Wolivar as well. More assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U came via Elijiah Barriga, Riley Hummitsch, and Evan Nyhus, who contributed one a piece.

Atlanta Fire 18U struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 36 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays.

Atlanta Fire 18U was helped by Clay Wood, who tallied one goal. Wood scored 12:15 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Alex Sauer picked up the assist. Ivan Brvenik also scored for Atlanta Fire 18U.

Rock Boynton rejected 20 shots on goal for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 18U incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Atlanta Fire 18U's Eric Norris stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Atlanta Fire 18U registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
