Morley's big game bests Battle Creek in 8-1 Wisconsin win

Behind a great game by Kaleb Morley, who had two goals and one assist, the Wisconsin Whalers defeated the Battle Creek Revolution, 8-1.

Morley scored at 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin and again while 1:31 into the second to make the score 5-1 Wisconsin.

Wisconsin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Whalers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Wisconsin forced Battle Creek goalie Zach Kooi to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The Whalers bested their season scoring average. Wisconsin averages 4.6 goals per game.

Wisconsin additionally got points from Connor Morgan, who also had one goal and two assists and Zack Johnson, who also registered three goals and one assist. Others who scored for Wisconsin included Alex Anderson and Kevin Stone, who each put in one. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Ryan Martin, who had four and D.J. Mussey, Dan Addie, Tim Tarvis, and Connor Hyde, who each chipped in two.

The Revolution put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Whalers to score on any of their four power plays.

Battle Creek was led by Derek Dodge, who scored the team's only goal. Dodge scored 40 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-1 Wisconsin. Trevor Carey picked up the assist.

David Volkmann took the win and made 14 saves before being replaced by Michal Marcinek who made four saves. Kooi rejected 42 shots on goal for the Revolution. Battle Creek ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
