yTopeka beats xDallas 5-4 after comeback scare

The xDallas Jr. Stars tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the yTopeka Capitals held on for a 5-4 victory.

yTopeka took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have xDallas storm back on a Raurie Petrich goal 18:06 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Capitals kept the Jr. Stars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Link Ferch made 30 saves on 35 shots.

yTopeka was helped by Tommy Malkmus, who registered three goals and one assist. yTopeka also got points from Hardijs Kupaks, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. yTopeka also got a goal from Kole Hudson as well. Other players who recorded assists for yTopeka were Nick Rizzo, who had two and Connor Nicholas and Alex Sauer, who contributed one a piece.

xDallas was helped by Corey Burns, who racked up one goal. Burns scored 6:25 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Jake Gevaart provided the assist. xDallas also had goals scored by Alex Cyrenne and Colin South, who each put in one. More assists for xDallas came via Jack Duhe, Brandon Salisbury, and Jake Huspen, who each chipped in one.

Mike McElroy made 24 saves for the Capitals on 28 shots. yTopeka incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Jr. Stars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
