Kumpfmiller stymies Metro, xPittsburgh wins 3-1

Jason Kumpfmiller had a standout game with 32 saves, and the xPittsburgh Vengeance beat the Metro Jets 3-1.

xPittsburgh was sparked by Tyler Speis, who had one goal. Speis scored 14:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 xPittsburgh. Brooks Antill picked up the assist.

The Vengeance managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. xPittsburgh ended up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

xPittsburgh also got points from Nicholas Santiago, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Eli Lynn also scored for xPittsburgh. Other players who recorded assists for xPittsburgh were Thomas Leistner, Chris McCambridge, and Jake Parry, who each chipped in one.

The Vengeance were unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Metro was led by Kyle Shreve, who scored the team's only goal. Shreve scored 9:38 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Zach MacKay provided the assist.

xPittsburgh registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Jets' starting goalie, Trevor Kalinowski, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Davide Mantovani, who stopped one shot. Metro incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
