Morrison nets hat trick, leads Michigan to 4-1 win over Battle Creek

Kade Morrison netted a hat trick to lead the Michigan Mountain Cats over the Battle Creek Revolution, 4-1.

Morrison's first goal came 6:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:17 into the second and at 18:45 into the second.

Battle Creek was stymied by Michigan netminder Walker Bass, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. Bass certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.5 entering the contest.

The Mountain Cats forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 17 minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Michigan surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Mountain Cats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 11 Battle Creek power plays. Michigan kept the Revolution's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Babinski made 42 saves on 46 shots.

Michigan additionally got points from Max Vance, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Shawn Mott, who had two and Zach Collins, Marc Schwartz, and Abram Prince, who contributed one a piece.

The Battle Creek penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Revolution had been spending in the box. The Mountain Cats were unable to stop Battle Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Revolution eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.
