Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Metro Jets defeated the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 11 attempts between the teams. Cleveland's shootout goal was scored by Jared Johnson. Metro's other shootout goal was scored by Matt Dempsey.The Jets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. Metro was helped by Zach Kopinski, who grabbed two goals. Kopinski scored the first of his two goals at 7:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Downey provided the assist. Kopinski's next tally made the score 2-2 with 8:51 left in the second period. The Jets had taken the advantage when the Jr. Lumberjacks' Tyler Dalton got sent off for checking from behind. Adam Lockner assisted on the tally. Metro also got points from Kyle Shreve, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Josh Hosking, Carter Reid, and James Roznowski, who contributed one a piece. Metro was unable to stop Cleveland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Lumberjacks eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Cleveland was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 10 man advantages. Cleveland additionally got points from Matt Wipper, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Avery Huibregtse and Vince Fornes, who each chipped in one. The Jets' Trevor Kalinowski stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Metro registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Tyler Jansen made 24 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 27 shots. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
