Cincinnati's comeback falls short, Peoria wins 6-4

The Peoria Mustangs came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Cincinnati Swords, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory.

Peoria led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Mustangs' Joshua Hart's scored at 8:36 in the third period to put Peoria up 4-1.

Nathan Chasteen had two goals and one assist to lead the Mustangs. Chasteen scored the first of his two goals at 15:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Jordan Wright assisted on the tally. Chasteen's next tally made the score 2-1 Peoria with 3:37 left in the second period. Marshall Gevers provided the assist.

Peoria kept Cincinnati's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alec Rounds made 27 saves on 33 shots.

Peoria also got points from Gevers, who also had one goal and one assist and Andrew Scofield, who also registered one goal and one assist. Peoria also got a goal from Sam Turner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Brennan Anderson, Connor Millard, Blake Ortman, Chance Homerin, Austin Wisely, and Thomas Kolaz, who each chipped in one.

The Swords' offense rang up 31 shots on the Mustangs' net.

Cincinnati was helped by Nicholas Riscossa, who grabbed one goal. Riscossa scored 14:14 into the third period to make the score 4-4. RJ Marshall assisted on the tally. Cincinnati additionally got points from Brenden Williams, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cincinnati also had goals scored by Andrew Bond and Hunter Schneider, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cincinnati came via Devin Fracassi, Robert Gentile, Timmy Weisgerber, Luke McCammant, and Emil Sundstrom, who contributed one a piece.

Peoria's Marc Hayton stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Mustangs totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Swords totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
