Metro downs Pittsburgh, 5-2

Cody Jones racked up one point to lead the Metro Jets to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Vengeance.

Pittsburgh was unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Metro surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Jets average 2.9 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Metro additionally got points from Kyle Shreve, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Metro included Alex Holm, Brad Hepler, and Nathan Phillips, who each put in one. More assists for Metro came via Carter Reid, who had two and Josh Hosking, Adam Lockner, James Roznowski, Zach Mac Kay, Kyle Downey, Travis Baranowski, and Trevor Kalinowski, who contributed one a piece.

The Vengeance managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Pittsburgh ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Vengeance were led by Joseph Randazzo, who finished with one goal and one assist. Randazzo scored 13:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Gavin Cummings provided the assist. Tom Diffendal also scored for Pittsburgh. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Sami Pokka, who had one.

Metro's Kalinowski stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Jets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jason Kumpfmiller made 27 saves for Pittsburgh on 30 shots. The Vengeance registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
