Kalinowski stymies Michigan, Metro wins 4-1Fraser - Coca-Cola Sun, Jan 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Metro Jets relied on the sparkling performance of Trevor Kalinowski in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Michigan Mountain Cats. Michigan's power play was ineffective against Metro's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Jets were led by Kyle Downey, who registered one goal. Downey scored short handed 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Metro. Zach Kopinski provided the assist. The Mountain Cats were unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Metro was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Metro also got points from Alex Holm, who also had one goal and one assist. Zach Mac Kay also scored for Metro. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Josh Hosking, who had two and Cooper McLean, Brad Hepler, and Kyle Shreve, who contributed one a piece. Michigan was led by Shawn Mott, who scored the team's only goal. Mott scored on the power play 7:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Metro. A holding penalty on James Roznowski had put the Mountain Cats on the power play. Max Vance picked up the assist. The Jets' Kalinowski stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Metro incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Walker Bass recorded 38 saves for Michigan. The Mountain Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
