Breezy Point completes comeback, beats Minnesota, 5-4

The Breezy Point North Stars climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Minnesota Flying Aces, 5-4.

Breezy Point never led in the game until netting the game winner. The North Stars fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Minnesota's Jake Mullendore at 14:39 in the first period. Breezy Point knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Mitch Pierson at 12:08 in the third period. The North Stars netted the game winner at 14:46 in the third period on a goal by Pierson.

The Flying Aces were unable to stop Breezy Point from sending pucks towards the net, and the North Stars eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Breezy Point outdid its season average for goals scored. The North Stars have scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Breezy Point was led by Kyle Eberwein, who registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Breezy Point included Blake Neumann, Russel Barone, and Nick Manney, who scored one goal each. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Blair Seitz, Joe Laskero, and Kyle Whipple, who each chipped in one.

Minnesota's offense rang up 35 shots on the North Stars' net. The Flying Aces were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Minnesota also had goals scored by Nick Tolin and AJ Gullickson, who each put in one. More assists for Minnesota came via Anthony Martinez, Blake Anderson, Eric Rogorzenski, and Michael Holthaus, who contributed one a piece and Bradee Thompson and Eric Cruickshank, who each chipped in two.

Joey Bergquist made 31 saves for Breezy Point on 35 shots. The North Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mike Stumpf rejected 29 shots on goal for Minnesota. The Flying Aces registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
