Homerin's goals lift Peoria to 6-3 victory over WisconsinHartmeyer Arena Sat, Dec 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Mustangs relied on the scoring touch of Chance Homerin, who netted two goals, to beat the Wisconsin Whalers, 6-3. Homerin found the back of the net on the power play 18:02 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Peoria and again while 18:25 into the second to make the score 4-2 Peoria.Peoria forced Wisconsin's netminders to work all game long, getting 46 shots and forcing 40 saves. Connor Fissel made 32 stops and David Volkmann made eight. Peoria also got points from Sam Turner, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Nathan Chasteen, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Peoria also got a goal from Joshua Hart as well. More assists for Peoria came via Blake Ortman, who had one and Jordan Wright and Brendan Murphy, who contributed two a piece. The Whalers kept the Mustangs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Hayton made 48 saves on 51 shots. Wisconsin was helped by Tim Tarvis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tarvis scored on the power play 3:40 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Peoria. A holding penalty on Homerin had put the Whalers on the power play. Easton Halbert provided the assist. Wisconsin additionally got points from Halbert, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Zack Johnson also scored for Wisconsin. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from D.J. Mussey, Ryan Martin, and Max Whitney, who each chipped in one. Peoria incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
