Alexandria beats Wisconsin 3-2 after comeback scare

The Alexandria Blizzard survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wisconsin Whalers on the way to a 3-2 win.

Alexandria took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Wisconsin storm back on a Zack Johnson goal 19:15 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Blizzard were led by Mick Dhein, who racked up one goal. Dhein scored 13:20 into the second period to make the score Alexandria. Drake Hunter picked up the assist.

The Whalers were unable to stop Alexandria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blizzard eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Alexandria also had goals scored by Jody Randall and Aaron Ryback, who each put in one. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Zach Kihle, Garrett Skinner, and Aammir Freese, who contributed one a piece.

Wisconsin stifled Alexandria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Whalers' offense rang up 43 shots on the Blizzard's net.

Wisconsin was helped by Adam Alcott, who had one goal. Alcott scored 1:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin. Chad Frost assisted on the tally. More assists for Wisconsin came via Jason Hoehn and Tim Tarvis, who each chipped in one.

Tanner Elmore rejected 41 shots on goal for Alexandria. The Blizzard incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Whalers' Connor Fissel stopped 43 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Wisconsin incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
