North Iowa rolls over Twin City, 6-1

The North Iowa Bulls had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Twin City Steel.

Twin City's power play was ineffective against North Iowa's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Bulls were led by Richie Marenis, who had one goal and one assist. Marenis scored 20:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Iowa. Matt Kroska provided the assist.

North Iowa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steel to score on any of their nine power plays. Twin City was unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Bulls' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as North Iowa finished with 20 penalty minutes.

North Iowa additionally got points from Kroska, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for North Iowa included Ian Penvose, Brandon Anderson, and Dylan Zins, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Timothy Santopoalo, who had two and Sam Naegele, Chris Howard, Andrew Halama, Taylor Brown, and Conor Jonasson, who contributed one a piece.

The Steel were held below their usual level of production. Twin City puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Chris Amsden recorded 23 saves for the Bulls. North Iowa registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Steel's Jordan Moran stopped 29 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Twin City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
