St. Louis wins tough contest against Cincinnati, 4-2Affton Ice Rink Sun, Dec 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Louis Jr. Blues gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Cincinnati Swords. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Zane OBryan secured the win for St. Louis with a goal in the third period. The Jr. Blues pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 17 penalty minutes. In a losing effort, Cincinnati was led by Andrew Bond, who registered two goals. Bond scored the first of his two goals at 1:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Nikita Korotkov picked up the assist. Bond's next tally made the score 2-2 with 11:55 left in the second period. The Swords had taken the advantage when St. Louis' Christian Argyros got sent off for charging. Korotkov assisted on the tally. The Jr. Blues' offense rang up 33 shots on Cincinnati's net. St. Louis additionally got points from Chris Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for St. Louis included Tommy Heinzman and Evgeny Drozdetskiy, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Adam Roeder, Andrew Kovacich, and Mike Lozano, who contributed one a piece. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Ryan Sete, who had one. St. Louis' Billy Hindle stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Jr. Blues registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Alec Rounds made 29 saves for the Swords on 33 shots. Cincinnati totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
