Huge game by Hjorth boosts Breezy Point over Alexandria, 7-3

Chris Hjorth had two goals and one assist to lead the Breezy Point North Stars to a 7-3 victory over the Alexandria Blizzard.

Hjorth scored at 16:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Breezy Point and again while 7:38 into the second to make the score 4-0 Breezy Point.

Breezy Point put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alexandria to score on any of its three power plays. The North Stars bested their season scoring average. Breezy Point averages 2.5 goals per game.

Breezy Point additionally got points from Crosby Steen, who also tallied one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Blair Seitz, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Benji Smieja, who also had two goals and one assist. Blake Neumann also scored for Breezy Point. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Scott Schroeder, Bo Borowski, Kyle Whipple, Kyle Eberwein, and Joey Bergquist, who contributed one a piece.

The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Breezy Point power plays. The North Stars were unable to stop Alexandria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blizzard eventually piled up 51 shots on goal.

Alexandria was led by Drake Hunter, who registered two goals. Hunter scored the first of his two goals at 13:08 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Breezy Point. Tom Schmidt provided the assist. Hunter's next tally made the score 4-2 Breezy Point with 1:26 left in the second period. Mick Dhein picked up the assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Gavin Mindt as well.

Breezy Point's Bergquist stopped 48 shots out of the 51 that he faced. The North Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Blizzard's starting goalie, Tanner Elmore, made six saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Evan Bisek, who stopped 10 shots. Alexandria incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
