Anderson nets hat trick, leads Alexandria to 7-2 win over Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Swords could not stop the Alexandria Blizzard's Joe Anderson, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-2 win.

Anderson notched his first tally 4:56 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:25 into the first and at 13:11 into the second.

Alexandria led 4-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

The Blizzard forced Cincinnati goalie Alec Rounds to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Alexandria bested its season scoring average. The Blizzard have scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Alexandria also got points from Bo Gronseth, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Mick Dhein, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Alexandria also had goals scored by Garrett Skinner and Nate Mettenburg, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alexandria came via Ian Ecklund, who had four and Zach Kihle, Tom Schmidt, Jake Maxson, Aaron Ryback, and Drake Hunter, who contributed one a piece.

Alexandria's Tanner Elmore stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Rounds rejected 32 shots on goal for the Swords. Cincinnati incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
