Cothran stymies Breezy Point, St. Louis wins 3-1Romeoville Rink 1 Sun, Nov 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Cooper Cothran stood on his head and made 36 saves to lead the St. Louis Jr. Blues to a 3-1 victory over the Breezy Point North Stars. St. Louis was sparked by Steven Farina, who tallied one goal. Farina scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Andrew Kovacich provided the assist. The Jr. Blues' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Breezy Point power plays. Breezy Point was unable to stop St. Louis from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Blues eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. St. Louis also got points from Kyle Meeh, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Lozano also scored for St. Louis. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Adam Roeder, Tommy Heinzman, and Jacob Debus, who each chipped in one. The North Stars forced St. Louis goalie Cothran to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Breezy Point struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 30 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. The North Stars were led by Spencer Sabourin, who scored the team's only goal. Sabourin scored 58 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Bo Borowski assisted on the tally. The Jr. Blues incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For St. Louis, Meeh was ejected from the game. Breezy Point's Joey Bergquist stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The North Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Russel Barone was ejected from the game. |
