Topeka beats Michigan 6-1 as Kikosaka gets hat trick

Yu Kikosaka netted a hat trick to lead the Topeka Capitals over the Michigan Mountain Cats, 6-1.

Kikosaka notched his first tally 9:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:17 into the first and at 14:53 into the third.

Michigan was unable to stop Topeka from sending pucks towards the net, and the Capitals eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Topeka bested its season scoring average. The Capitals have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Topeka also got points from Hardijis Kupaks, who also had one goal and one assist and Georgy Ostapchuk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Topeka also got a goal from Kole Hudson as well. More assists for Topeka came via Nick Manney, who had one and Griffin Leach, who had two.

The Mountain Cats were led by John Arms, who scored the team's only goal. Arms scored on the power play 17:53 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Topeka. Michigan had gotten the advantage when Topeka's Nolan Stanley was sent off for cross checking. Guy Soulliere provided the assist.

Jude Hull rejected 16 shots on goal for the Capitals. Topeka incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kevin OShea recorded 35 saves for the Mountain Cats. Michigan incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
