Wisconsin downs Pittsburgh in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Wisconsin Whalers' Brett Gates scored 3:56 into overtime to beat the Pittsburgh Vengeance, 2-1 (OT).

Wisconsin was sparked by Gates, who tallied one goal.

The Whalers stifled Pittsburgh's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Vengeance were unable to stop Wisconsin from sending pucks towards the net, and the Whalers eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Wisconsin also got a goal from Ryan Martin as well. More assists for Wisconsin came via Connor Morgan and Zack Johnson, who contributed one a piece.

Pittsburgh did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Vengeance put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

Pittsburgh was led by Lukas Friberger, who scored the team's only goal. Friberger scored 11:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh. Tyler Speis provided the assist.

David Volkmann rejected 19 shots on goal for Wisconsin. The Whalers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jason Kumpfmiller recorded 34 saves for the Vengeance. Pittsburgh incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
