Scofield's goals lift Peoria to 7-2 victory over Metro

Andrew Scofield had two goals to lead the Peoria Mustangs to a 7-2 victory over the Metro Jets.

Scofield found the back of the net on the power play 10:18 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Peoria and again while short handed 13:33 into the second to make the score 4-2 Peoria.

Metro was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Peoria was able to score four times while on the power play.

The defensemen of the Mustangs were also effective in the Jets' zone, and came away with two goals.

Peoria also got points from Marshall Gevers, who also had one goal and two assists and Brendan Murphy, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brennan Anderson also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Sam Turner, who had one and Nathan Chasteen, who had two.

Metro was helped by Josh Beleski, who tallied one goal. Beleski scored on the power play 1:11 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Zach Kopinski assisted on the tally. Metro also got a goal from Cooper McLean as well. More assists for Metro came via Cody Jones, Zach Mac Kay, and Matt Dempsey, who each chipped in one.

Peoria's Jarin Aden stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Mustangs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kameron Limburg made 17 saves for the Jets on 24 shots. Metro incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
