Konnov, Childs dominate Minnesota, lead Twin City to 5-2 win

Behind one goal and two assists from Alexander Konnov and two goals and two assists from Jace Childs, the Twin City Steel downed the Minnesota Flying Aces 5-2.

Konnov scored short handed 2:06 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Twin City. Childs picked up the assist. Childs scored the first of his two goals short handed at 10:29 into the third period to make the score 4-1 Twin City. Twin City was on a disadvantage when Calvin Miska went off the ice for interference. Konnov provided the assist. Childs' next tally short handed made the score 5-2 Twin City with 19 seconds left in the third period. Konnov picked up the assist.

The Steel pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Twin City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Steel forced Minnesota goalie Mike Stumpf to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Twin City also got points from Mathias Ahman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Childs, who also tallied two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Miska, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Twin City came via Tyler Lodin, Tanner Duffney, and Chase Myers-Beck, who contributed one a piece.

The Flying Aces kept Twin City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jackson Germaine made 37 saves on 39 shots.

Minnesota was led by Jake Mullendore, who racked up two goals. Mullendore scored the first of his two goals at 4:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota. Justin Nielsen provided the assist. Mullendore's next tally made the score 4-2 Twin City with 6:59 left in the third period. Tyler Leverty assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Anthony Martinez and Blake Anderson, who each chipped in one.

The Steel registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Mike Stumpf made 38 saves for the Flying Aces on 42 shots. Minnesota incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Flying Aces, Nielsen was ejected from the game.
