Antonelli's big game bests Cleveland in 6-3 Toledo win

Dominic Antonelli had two goals and two assists to lead the Toledo Cherokee to a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks.

Antonelli scored at 3:53 into the second period to make the score 3-3 and again while 18:01 into the third to make the score 6-3 Toledo.

Toledo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cleveland to score on any of its five power plays. The Cherokee's offense rang up 33 shots on the Jr. Lumberjacks' net. Toledo found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cherokee average 2.7 goals per contest.

Toledo also got points from Tyler Zalecki, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Toledo included Dominic Pisanti, who had one and Noah Szenderski, who had two. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart, Austin Turner, Brody Duncan, Tyler Nienow, Xavier Sudlow, Jeff Gunn, Kyler Omey, and Brett Podgorski, who contributed one a piece.

Cleveland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Lumberjacks forced Toledo goalie Clay Horvath to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Cleveland was helped by Nick Balavich, who tallied one goal and one assist. Balavich scored 8:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland. Stefan Horgas provided the assist. Cleveland additionally got points from Horgas, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Alex Buban as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Tyler Stockwell and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in one.

The Cherokee's Horvath stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Toledo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Joseph Moza recorded 27 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
