Flint squeaks by Cleveland, 4-2

The Flint Junior Generals and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Flint made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Chris Skordilis's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Junior Generals were led by Skordilis, who tallied one goal. Skordilis scored 6:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Flint. Conner McGovern provided the assist.

Flint's offense rang up 38 shots on Cleveland's net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Mark McGee also scored for Flint. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Josh Koepplinger, Reno de Hondt, Brit Brothen, Trevor Benaglio, and Luke Dmytro, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Cleveland was helped by Nick Balavich, who had one goal. Balavich scored on the power play 12:38 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Jr. Lumberjacks had taken the advantage when the Junior Generals' Dmytro got sent off for charging. Jared Johnson assisted on the tally. Cleveland also got a goal from Ben Urbas as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Lucas Mickelson, Zack Mlady, and Tyler Pritt, who contributed one a piece.

Nathan Klebe rejected 22 shots on goal for Flint. The Junior Generals incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Joseph Moza made 34 saves for Cleveland on 38 shots. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
