Pittsburgh blows out Battle Creek, 6-1The Rink - B. Creek Sun, Nov 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pittsburgh Vengeance were firing on all cylinders against the Battle Creek Revolution, and when the final buzzer sounded Vengeance emerged with a 6-1 win. Pittsburgh was paced by Gavin Cummings, who tallied one goal and one assist. Cummings scored 14:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. Oskar Thorsen assisted on the tally. The Vengeance excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Battle Creek was unable to stop Pittsburgh from sending pucks towards the net, and the Vengeance eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Pittsburgh outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Vengeance average 3.8 goals per contest. Pittsburgh also got points from Nicholas Santiago, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Kevin Kenny, who had two and Lukas Friberger and Chris McCambridge, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Robert Kinsey, Joseph Randazzo, and Michael Straub, who each chipped in one and Thomas Leistner and Brennan Conway, who contributed two a piece. The the Revolution penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Battle Creek had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Revolution were led by Alex Drulia, who scored the team's only goal. Drulia scored 3:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Barkley Haney provided the assist. Chase Stanford made 18 saves for Pittsburgh on 19 shots. The Vengeance incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tyler Babinski recorded 44 saves for Battle Creek. For the Revolution, Eric Tucker was ejected from the game.
