Santopoalo's big game bests Breezy Point in 11-2 North Iowa win

Timothy Santopoalo was all over the ice for the North Iowa Bulls, as he tallied two goals and three assists in North Iowa's 11-2 win over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Santopoalo's tallies came short handed at 8:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Iowa and 6:20 into the third to make the score 10-2 North Iowa.

The Bulls pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 34 penalty minutes.

North Iowa's offense rang up 46 shots on Breezy Point's net. The Bulls bested their season scoring average. This season, North Iowa averages 7.0 goals per contest.

North Iowa also got points from Ron Lindgren, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Richie Marenis, who also registered two goals and two assists, Kyle Krueger, who also had one goal and two assists, and Matt Kroska, who also racked up three goals and two assists. Logan Murphy also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Nick Eytcheson, Taylor Brown, and Joey Sundgren, who each chipped in one and Chancie Hanson, Sam Naegele, and Tyler Richison, who contributed two a piece.

The North Stars were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Breezy Point had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The North Stars kept the Bulls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dylan Parker made 38 saves on 40 shots.

Breezy Point was led by Joe Laskero, who tallied one goal. Laskero scored 10:05 into the first period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa. Nick Johnsen assisted on the tally. Breezy Point also got a goal from Kyle Whipple as well. Other players who recorded assists for Breezy Point were Ryan Bittner, Crosby Steen, and Mitch Pierson, who each chipped in one.

North Iowa registered two goals on four power play opportunities. For the Bulls, Ian Penvose was ejected from the game. Matt Memolo rejected 35 shots on goal for the North Stars. Breezy Point registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
