Breezy Point falls apart in second, loses to North Iowa, 10-0

The North Iowa Bulls scored five goals in the second period to pull away from the Breezy Point North Stars and clinch a 10-0 win.

Richie Marenis had one goal and three assists to lead North Iowa. Marenis scored 10:49 into the second period to make the score 3-0 North Iowa. Timothy Santopoalo picked up the assist.

The Bulls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Breezy Point power plays. Breezy Point was unable to stop North Iowa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. North Iowa outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Bulls average 6.6 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

North Iowa also got points from Kyle Krueger, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Taylor Brown, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Brandon Anderson, who also registered one goal and two assists, Santopoalo, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Joey Sundgren, who also finished with one goal and one assist. North Iowa also got a goal from Ron Lindgren as well. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Chancie Hanson, who had two, Matt Kroska, who had three, and Matthew Kaitchuck, Kurt Halbach, Austin Jackson, Conor Jonasson, and Dylan Zins, who contributed one a piece.

The North Stars were held below their usual level of production. Breezy Point puts an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game.

Chris Amsden rejected 17 shots on goal for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Joey Bergquist recorded 30 saves for the North Stars. Breezy Point incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
