Childs' big game bests Minnesota in 8-3 Twin City winExchange Arena Sun, Nov 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Twin City Steel's Jace Childs had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 8-3 win over the Minnesota Flying Aces. Childs' tallies came short handed at 18:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Twin City and 11:34 into the second to make the score 5-2 Twin City.Twin City forced Minnesota goalie Jaxson Gosnell to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Steel found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Twin City has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Steel took advantage of the Flying Aces' penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Twin City also got points from Alexander Konnov, who also finished with three goals and three assists to lead the team in points and Calvin Miska, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tyler Lodin also scored for Twin City. In addition, Twin City received assists from Jake Mcafee, who had two and Jerod Sabaska, Garrett Nelson, Tanner Duffney, Isaac Hale, Chase Myers-Beck, Matthew Derby, and Jackson Germaine, who each chipped in one. Minnesota was helped by Vladimir Marchenko, who grabbed one goal. Marchenko scored 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Eric Rogorzenski assisted on the tally. Minnesota also got a goal from Anthony Martinez as well. More assists for Minnesota came via Blake Anderson, who had two and Vladislav Shipota and AJ Gullickson, who contributed one a piece. Twin City's Germaine stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Steel incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Gosnell recorded 32 saves for the Flying Aces. Minnesota incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
