Germaine leads Twin City to shutout victory over Alexandria

Jackson Germaine was superb between the pipes for the Twin City Steel, as he did not allow a goal in a 5-0 victory over the Alexandria Blizzard.

Twin City got the win behind a great game by Calvin Miska, who had one goal and two assists. Miska scored 6:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Jace Childs picked up the assist.

The Steel stifled Alexandria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Twin City's offense rang up 32 shots on the Blizzard's net. The Steel outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Twin City averages 2.9 goals per contest.

Twin City also got points from Alexander Konnov, who also had one goal and two assists and Childs, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Dylan Lincoln also scored for Twin City. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Brennan Osen, who had one and Isaac Hale, who had three.

Alexandria was relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The Blizzard ended up below their season average of 37.0 penalty minutes per game. Alexandria put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steel to score on any of their six power plays. The Blizzard's offense operated below they season average. Alexandria puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. The Blizzard kept Twin City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Germaine made 35 saves on 35 shots.

The Steel ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. Evan Bisek made 27 saves for Alexandria on 32 shots. The Blizzard registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
