North Iowa rips Twin City, 9-4

The North Iowa Bulls had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-4 win over the Twin City Steel.

Richie Marenis was all over the ice for North Iowa, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Marenis scored the first of his two goals at 8:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Iowa. Timothy Santopoalo picked up the assist. Marenis' next tally made the score 7-3 North Iowa with 15:50 left in the third period. Matt Kroska provided the assist.

The Bulls managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. North Iowa ended up below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Twin City was unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The Bulls gave up more goals than its normal season average. North Iowa averages 1.7 goal allowed per game. The Bulls was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. The defensemen of North Iowa were also effective in the Steel's zone, and came away with two goals.

North Iowa additionally got points from Chancie Hanson, who also had one goal and one assist, Conor Jonasson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Santopoalo, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. North Iowa also had goals scored by Ian Penvose, who had two and Ron Lindgren and Logan Murphy, who each put in one. More assists for North Iowa came via Zach Jones, Chris Howard, Andrew Halama, Trey Gardner, Joey Sundgren, and Colin Biebel, who each chipped in one.

Twin City was helped by Alexander Konnov, who registered one goal. Konnov scored 18:58 into the first period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. Jace Childs assisted on the tally. Twin City also got points from Calvin Miska, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Twin City also got a goal from Tanner Duffney as well. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Ben Ihrie, who had two and Dylan Lincoln, Jerod Sabaska, and Ryan Carriveau, who contributed one a piece.

Jared Schletty made 25 saves for the Bulls on 29 shots. Jackson Germaine rejected 41 shots on goal for the Steel. Twin City totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
