Chasteen nets hat trick, leads Peoria to 9-1 win over Battle Creek

Nathan Chasteen netted a hat trick to lead the Peoria Mustangs over the Battle Creek Revolution, 9-1.

Chasteen got on the scoresheet 7:52 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:08 into the third and at 7:48 into the third.

Peoria gained an early advantage, leading 5-0 by the end of the first period.

The Mustangs' penalty kill excelled, as Peoria gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Mustangs stifled Battle Creek's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peoria forced the Revolution goalie Tyler Babinski to work between the pipes, taking 70 shots. The Mustangs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Peoria has scored at the pace of 5.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Peoria additionally got points from Levi Armstrong, who also registered one goal and one assist, Sam Turner, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Andrew Scofield, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Nick Conner also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Blake Ortman, who had two and Marc Peters, Jordan Wright, Brennan Anderson, and Chance Homerin, who each chipped in one.

Battle Creek's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Revolution finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Jarin Aden rejected 23 shots on goal for the Mustangs. Peoria totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Babinski recorded 61 saves for Battle Creek.
