St. Louis downs Wisconsin in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The St. Louis Jr. Blues pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Wisconsin Whalers on a clutch goal by Christian Argyros.

Wisconsin fell victim to a deadly St. Louis power play, which ripped the Whalers for four goals.

The Jr. Blues were led by Argyros, who finished with one goal and one assist. Argyros scored on the power play 4:20 into overtime to make the score 4-3 St. Louis. St. Louis had gained a power play chance when Connor Hyde was whistled for tripping. Tommy Heinzman provided the assist.

Wisconsin was unable to stop the Jr. Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Jr. Blues could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for St. Louis included Zane OBryan, Lucas Stewart, and Mike Lozano, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Louis came via Kyle Meeh and Alex Klaesner, who each chipped in one.

The Whalers kept St. Louis' goalie busy throughout the game, and Billy Hindle made 50 saves on 53 shots. Wisconsin was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 11 man advantages.

The Whalers were helped by Easton Halbert, who had one goal. Halbert scored on the power play 16:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wisconsin. Wisconsin had gotten the advantage when the Jr. Blues' Chris Brown was sent off for high sticking. Wisconsin also had goals scored by Ryan Martin and Jason Hoehn, who each put in one. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from D.J. Mussey, Clayton Janecke, and Adam Alcott, who contributed one a piece.

Michal Marcinek recorded 38 saves for the Whalers. Wisconsin incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
