Peoria uses big second period to beat Chicago, 6-2

The Chicago Junior Bulldogs was within striking distance after one period, but the Peoria Mustangs put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-2 victory.

Chance Homerin was all over the ice for Peoria, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Homerin's tallies came at 2:06 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Peoria and 6:53 into the third to make the score 6-0 Peoria.

The Mustangs stifled Chicago's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peoria forced the Junior Bulldogs goalie Michael Paku to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Peoria also got points from Sam Turner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brennan Anderson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Blake Ortman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Austin Wisely also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Jordan Wright, Levi Armstrong, and Joshua Hart, who contributed one a piece and Austin Ziakas and Nathan Chasteen, who each chipped in two.

Chicago also got a goal from Matt Blaszkiewicz as well. More assists for Chicago came via Trevor Foley, Daniel Marotz, and Luke Morin, who contributed one a piece.

Chance Kremer made 25 saves for the Mustangs on 27 shots. Peoria incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Paku recorded 33 saves for Chicago. The Junior Bulldogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
