Behind a great game by Andrew Kovacich, who had one goal and three assists, the St. Louis Jr. Blues defeated the Twin City Steel, 12-2. Kovacich got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 3:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Louis. St. Louis had taken the advantage when Twin City's Cory Johnson got sent off for checking from behind. Christian Argyros provided the assist. Kovacich dished an assist on Kyle Meeh's goal that made the score 4-1 St. Louis at 8:24 into the second period. He then added assists on Lucas Stewart's goal at 19:53 into the second and on Adam Roeder's goal at 6:34 into the third.The Steel fell victim to a deadly the Jr. Blues power play, which ripped Twin City for five goals. St. Louis made the Steel's netminders to work in net, ripping 52 shots and forcing 40 saves. Sawyer Marshall made 15 stops and Zach Denny made 25. The Jr. Blues outdid their season average for goals scored. St. Louis averages 5.8 goals per game. The defensemen of the Jr. Blues were also effective in Twin City's zone, and came away with three goals. St. Louis could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. St. Louis also got points from Meeh, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Roeder, who also had one goal and two assists, Alexander Carlsson, who also tallied two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Argyros, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Stewart, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Samuel Maddox also scored for St. Louis. More assists for St. Louis came via Zane OBryan, who had two, Alex Klaesner, who had four, and Tommy Heinzman, Alexander Turin, Chris Brown, and Mike Lozano, who each chipped in one. The Steel forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 31.0 minutes per game Twin City had been spending in the box. The Steel were led by Brennan Osen, who finished with one goal and one assist. Osen scored on the power play 6:54 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Louis. Twin City had gained a power play chance when Stewart was whistled for elbowing. Evan Anderson picked up the assist. Twin City also got a goal from Jace Childs as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Chase Myers-Beck, who had one. Billy Hindle made 25 saves for the Jr. Blues on 27 shots. The Steel registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For Twin City, Johnson was ejected from the game.
