Toledo outlasts Pittsburgh, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Toledo Cherokee escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Vengeance.

Toledo gained the winning advantage on a goal by Zach Bilius 13:43 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Cherokee were paced by Bilius, who racked up one goal.

Toledo forced Pittsburgh goalie Jason Kumpfmiller to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Toledo additionally got points from Tyler Zalecki, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Noah Szenderski also scored for Toledo. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart, Michael Pisanti, Dominic Antonelli, and Austin Turner, who contributed one a piece.

The Vengeance's offense operated below they season average. Pittsburgh puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Vengeance were helped by Chris McCambridge, who registered one goal. McCambridge scored 15:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Tyler Speis provided the assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Cody Black as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Lukas Friberger, Gavin Cummings, and Jake Parry, who each chipped in one.

Nate Gay made 15 saves for the Cherokee on 17 shots. Toledo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pittsburgh's Kumpfmiller stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Vengeance incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
