Henderson lifts North Iowa over Granite City, 5-2

The North Iowa Bulls relied on the scoring touch of Peter Henderson, who netted two goals, to beat the Granite City Lumberjacks, 5-2.

Henderson's tallies came at 18:24 into the first period to make the score 2-1 North Iowa and on the power play 1:11 into the second to make the score 3-1 North Iowa.

North Iowa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Granite City power plays. The Bulls kept Granite City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Murray made 26 saves on 31 shots.

North Iowa also got points from Taylor Brown, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chris Howard also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Zach Jones, Tyler Richison, Andrew Halama, Logan Murphy, and Timothy Santopoalo, who contributed one a piece.

North Iowa was unable to stop the Lumberjacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Granite City eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Lumberjacks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Granite City was helped by Tim Brown, who finished with one goal. Brown scored 5:33 into the second period to make the score 3-2 North Iowa. Mitchell Gwost picked up the assist. Granite City also got a goal from Brady Berhardson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Aidan Verbeke and Aaron Storch, who each chipped in one.

Jared Schletty rejected 34 shots on goal for the Bulls. North Iowa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Lumberjacks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
