Fresno Monsters blows out Southern Oregon Spartans, 7-0

Fresno Monsters had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over Southern Oregon Spartans.

Southern Oregon Spartans' power play was ineffective against Fresno Monsters' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Fresno Monsters was sparked by Anthony Pena, who registered one goal and one assist. Pena scored 11:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno Monsters. Evan Ingram assisted on the tally.

Fresno Monsters forced Southern Oregon Spartans' goalies to work without much rest, launching 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Ian Dvorak made 17 stops and Jiri Ponikelsky made 22. Fresno Monsters stifled Southern Oregon Spartans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fresno Monsters' defensive effort looked to be improved.
