Phoenix Knights blows out New Mexico Renegades, 12-1

Phoenix Knights had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 12-1 win over New Mexico Renegades.

Max Mahood was all over the ice for Phoenix Knights, as he had four goals in the win. Mahood notched his first tally 7:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 34 seconds into the third, at 8:55 into the third, and at 18:00 into the third.

Phoenix Knights was led by goalie Alex Taylor, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Taylor certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.89 entering the contest.

Phoenix Knights forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Phoenix Knights had been spending in the box. Phoenix Knights' offense rang up 70 shots on New Mexico Renegades' net. Phoenix Knights' goal total was higher than its season average. Phoenix Knights has scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Phoenix Knights also got points from Jordan Kaspick, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Robert Smith, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Ryan McNeely, who also tallied one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Mattias Marten, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mitch Cobby, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jordan Cullum, who also had one goal and three assists, and Kelby Minshull, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Phoenix Knights also got a goal from Brynton Macnab as well. Other players who recorded assists for Phoenix Knights were Colin Bresnehan, who had one and Charlie Allen, who had two.

The New Mexico Renegades penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. New Mexico Renegades surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

Phoenix Knights registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Austin Borchert made 58 saves for New Mexico Renegades on 70 shots. New Mexico Renegades registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
